It's a Color(full) Life

Updated: Aug 22

Want to Trade?

It's been a busy week in the studio, and I've been feeling in the flow. I'm leaving town for a couple of weeks and will miss painting. But it will be much more fun when I return with a new perspective, no pun intended.

So, I recently had a friend contact me whom I haven't seen in person in 30 years. She asked if I would be in a trade for a painting. I LOVE trades! Something inside me stirs. It reminds me of something lost. An old part of us when trading was the norm. For example, when you had chickens, I grew veggies. And our oldest children walked a mile to exchange eggs and corn weekly. I imagine trading like that, and it fills my heart up somehow. In that reciprocity is a knowing still buried in our DNA.

My beautiful friend Jennifer wanted to trade a painting for a psychic reading. Wow, how about that? It's only sometimes that you get such an exciting proposition! And, of course, I said yes.

The reading was marvelous—so heart-filling, rich, personal, and insightful. I am so honored she called.

More about Jennifer and her exceptional work can be found on her website: skyfarmcare.com.

After the session, I had some realizations (which Jennifer said would likely be) about an idea I've pondered for a few years now. Writing about it here in this blog should help manifest the idea.

Numerology

First of all, I've had some deep visions over time related to numbers and colors. I know it sounds very metaphysical, and it is! You get it for those who have studied astrology, numerology, or even the chakras.

As an artist, I am deeply connected to color. Carl Jung said, "Colors are the mother tongue of the subconscious."

I love that.

So, I'm working on a new kind of portrait based on a person's birth date. In a way, they are your soul colors. Like your astrological signs, each of us have unique numbers derived from the date of birth. And all those numbers have corresponding colors.

For me, cycles, patterns, and forces in nature can have a profound effect. From an energizing sensation when the moon is full, to seasonal blues. And because Neptune is so far away, it shouldn't mean that its force is not in effect on some subtle level. Quantum entanglement, anyone?

Whether generated by our thoughts, emotions, or the collective unconscious, forces and energies, known and unknown, are at play all around us.

Naysayers claim no scientific evidence of planetary influence on human behavior. Yet here we are, thousands of years after Pythagoras invented numerology, still studying it. I look at it as a beautiful way to raise self-awareness and create a more meaningful world.

"The soul becomes dyed with the color of its thoughts."

~ Marcus Aurelius

Soul Colors

In these challenging times we need more peace, joy, and meaning to counter all the madness.

These soul color charts (portraits) are a way to see your uniqueness in vivid color. They're meant to be a peek into the colorful energies that surround you and arouse insight!

I've had several friends tell me how much they love the colors in their life color reading—as if no other colors would have been right!
